Our healthy, skin-lovin’ ingredients
Just in case you need to impress and wow your friends at your next cocktail party, here are the ingredients we use (along with some interesting factoids) in all of our bath products. We try to use organic whenever feasible, and purchase Fair Trade as a matter of social conscience. Every human deserves a fair wage for their work, and the opportunity to build a sustainable business that positively influences their community.
Avocado oil (cosmetic grade) nourishes and restores dry, dehydrated, and mature skin. Highly therapeutic, it contains copious amounts of vitamins A, B1, B2, D and E. Skin problems, especially eczema and psoriasis, respond favorably to this therapeutic oil. Signature Soaps, Body Polish.
Castor Oil (cosmetic grade) is a highly viscous oil which is rich in fatty acids and very moisturizing. Like olive oil, it is an humectant, attracting and maintaining moisture to the skin. We incorporate 10% of this oil in our Signature Soaps, creating an incredibly creamy, dense lather. Signature Soaps.
Citric Acid comes from the fermentation of crude fruit sugars and is what provides the fizzing action in our Bath Bombes.
Cocoa Butter (fair trade, organic) is birthed from a gourd-shaped fruit which is typically harvested twice per year. The pods contain approximately 40, 2 cm. seeds, which undergo quite a lengthy 6-step process ultimately producing the vegetable fat known as cocoa butter. The second factoid: The name (theobroma cacao) is derived from two Greek words theos meaning “god” and broma meaning “food” which translates to “food of the goods”. Although our products are not formulated for internal consumption (though many smell good enough to eat) cocoa butter is a delicious product for the skin. Naturally rich in Vitamin E as well as a number of other vitamins and minerals, it helps to soothe and hydrate the skin. Bath Bombes, Tub Truffles, Body Polish.
Coconut Oil 72º is the second most abundant oil we use in our Signature Soaps. It contains a high percentage of laurec acid which not only contributes to a sturdy bar of soap that won’t fade in your sap dish, but provides copious amounts of fluffy bubbles. Signature Soaps
Coconut Oil, (extra virgin, organic) is one of our favorite oils to incorporate into our luscious, tropical body polishes, Bath Bombes and Tub Truffles. Coconut Oil (fractionated) is one of the carrier oils we use in our decadent, self-emulsifying body polishes. Lightweight and non-staining, this oil is the perfect oil to combine with heavier oils, such as sunflower and avocado, to create a lightweight, easily absorbed base for our emulsified Body Polishes.
Emulsifying Wax (vegetable derived) is vegetable based emulsifying wax from naturally occurring fats and esters. This excellent medium is used to create a bond between water and oil for products which require their binding together without the separation, and complements the finished products end texture. Body Polishes
Magnesium Sulfate, commonly known as Epsom Salt, actually isn’t a salt at all. Epsom salt is a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate, whose health benefits would take you to the moon and back if listed. Readily absorbed through the skin, Epsom salts reduce inflammation, help sore muscles feel, well less sore. Ideal for weekend warriors and aging athletes. Palm Oil (organic, sustainably harvested)
Potassium Bitartrate, commonly known as cream of tartar, is used in the frosting portion of our Bubble Bath Cupcakes.
Rice Bran Oil is a well-kept beauty secret in Asian cultures for centuries. Rich in a vitamin E complex, tocopherols and tocotrienols, and a unique antioxidant known as gamma oryzanol, rice bran oil improves the skin’s elasticity by hydrating it making it softer and smoother. Rice bran oil also has high quantities of phytosterols, polyphenols and squalene. Whew, a mouthful that boils down to this: High amount of antioxidants = long shelf life/fights free radicals. Not to mention, it has a pretty decent shelf life which extends the life of our products…naturally.
Shea Butter (fair trade), also called African Karite butter, is cold expeller pressed from the pits of the fruit of the African butter tree. Shea butter is extremely moisturizing and gentle to the skin. In soaps, it gives a very luxurious feel to the finished product. Signature Soaps. Body Polish.
Sodium Laurel Sulfoacetate
Sodium Bicarbonate is a natural alkaline that neutralizes acids and washes away oils and dirt while leaving the skin soft, silky and smooth. When used in combination with citric acid, it produces a reaction that leads to the fizz in our relaxing and rejuvenating Bath Bombes.
Stearic Acid (vegetable derived) is a white, waxy, natural acid found in animal and vegetable fats. Our Stearic acid is from vegetable origins and is used to emulsify our luxurious Body Polishes, providing body and viscosity.
Sunflower Oil (hi-oleic, organic) is a natural powerhouse for dry, delicate and/or aging skin.
